Approximately 15 roadless miles southwest of Nimpo Lake and just east of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park is a set of lakes in the West Chilcotin area of British Columbia with large rainbow trout and very few anglers.  Access is by float plane. The larger lakes are Crazy Bear (Ginny) Lake and Stewart Lake.  There is a fly-in base camp on Stewart Lake.  There are reputed to be smaller walk-in lakes, creeks, and ponds nearby.  You can either get there on your own or you make arrangements with an outfitter.  If you make arrangements with an outfitter you can take advantage of the small motor boats cached there for clients.  That is our plan for this outing.  For our outfitter we will use Stewart Lodge and Camps, the same people we so successfully worked with on our Turner Chain of Lakes outings in 2015 and 2018.

We will be camping.

There are no cabins at these lakes.  We will be camping.  There will be weight and bulk restrictions for our food and gear because we have to fly in.  A month or so prior to the outing there will be a meeting to discuss trip logistics, transporting club gear, food shopping, carpooling, menu planning, and cook teams.

Time Frame

Nimpo Lake is a very long drive from Seattle.  It is recommended you stay at the lodge the night before flying to the lakes.

On past trips we have left Seattle on Friday and stayed in Williams Lake on Friday night.  Saturday, we drove to Nimpo Lake and stayed at Stewart's Lodge.  The float plane takes off from Stewart Lodge on Nimpo Lake.  Everyone needs to be on the dock, packed, and ready to depart at 9:30 a.m.
